Major tenant to ramp up its AllenPlace area

The lead tenant for AllenPlace, the city’s new office park, has signed up for additional space to house a light-manufacturing facility.

One of the world’s leaders in the elevator and escalator industry, KONE is adding 121,852 square feet to its original commitment of space at AllenPlace’s $26m first phase. The new area will be used for a manufacturing area that will house 80 new employees. In total, with manufacturing space added to the testing area and office space, KONE will utilize 169,000 square feet in AllenPlace.

According to the Vice President of Supply Operations, Ron Bagwill, KONE anticipates that developer of AllenPlace, Sentinel Capital, will soon be breaking ground. The company expects by the end of 2015 to have most of the positions in place. Some of the positions will be filled by employees relocating from their facility in Torreon, Mexico, while the rest will be new hires.
