Total Wine and More is working with local official to expand into Northern Texas, including the city of Allen, which currently prohibits the sale of liquor.
The chain has hired a local political consulting and polling firm to help with these efforts, which appear to be running into little opposition. The measure will be on the May 7th ballet thanks to the efforts of the consulting firm who raised the required amount of signatures. If the measure is passed, it would allow residents to purchase alcohol for off-premises consumption. Currently although residents may purchase beer and wine at local grocery stores, they can only purchase alcohol in mixed drinks at restaurants.
If the measure is passed, locals will likely see a variety of businesses spring up with a variety of marketing and Mailing services obtained from a local Print company, to let residents know of their arrival.
Allen currently is not the only city in Texas which prohibits the sale of liquor, but cities such as Plano and Lewisville have recently allowed the sales. There are other cities still holding out, but as more cities weigh in, the opposition may become weaker.
Mayor Steve Terrill and City Council members are happy to let the resident of Allen make the decision. It is likely if the measure is passed, Total Wines and More will move fast to open retail space in the city.
