Coming up this weekend is a chance to enjoy a scenic walk while learning about local birds at the Connemara Meadow Preserve.
The bird walk focuses on local birds and birds that can be found easily in the preserve. About 30 or more species are seen on average during these walks. Participants are encouraged to bring their own binoculars and field guides. The guides will focus on the calls, behaviors, and habitats of the birds in the area.
The bird walk is expected to take about three hours. Participants are encouraged to wear long pants, close-toed shoes, insect repellent, and sunscreen. Bringing water is also advised.
The Connemara Meadow Preserve has been open to the public since 1981 with the goal to preserve some of the natural beauty of the area for residents to enjoy. The park is open daily from dawn until dusk, and includes five major different ecological areas. This is part of the reason so many species of birds are seen on these walks. Part of the bird walk is helping visitors to appreciate the open land and nature around them.
Parking is free for the event, off of Alma and Tatum Road. Events like these often use flyer printing to help advertise, especially as a recurring event. The bird walk is current scheduled to take place at 8:00 am tomorrow, November 3.
