Allen theater scheduled winter program

Act II Community Theater, located at 1210 East Main Street #300 in Allen, has lined up its winter productions for the community to enjoy.

To start it off, on December 1 to 17, A Lion in Winter will be shown. The play, by James Goldman, depicts the ups and downs of family life during medieval times. There is romance, competition, jealousy, and humor in this production.

Steel Magnolias celebrates the life of women in a Southern town with laughter and tears. It will be performed from January 19 to February 4, and was written by Robert Harling.

Hollywood Dreams chronicles the dream and life of comedian Carol Burnett. Produced by her and her daughter, it will run March 9 to 25 and is about her childhood and dreams of becoming a star.

Volunteers are needed to help with a variety of tasks at the theater. They need help with the concession stand, marketing/PR, ticket sales, and fundraising. Help is needed backstage too with makeup and hair, props, costumes, lighting, sound, and photography.
