Allen skating competition to enforce new safety policies

The 39th Annual Skate Dallas Competition in Allen will be undergoing new COVID-19 related changes to keep contestants and spectators safe.

Skate Dallas is a competitive event hosted by the Dallas Figure Skating Club where skaters partake in several categories of ice skating events. The organizers of the competition have created new policies to ensure the venue follows current pandemic-related guidelines.

Skaters will only be allowed to bring two chaperones and immediate family members to spectate their events. Spectators must follow the venue's flow path, wear a face covering, and maintain proper social distancing spaces. Once the skater's event is finished, their spectators will need to exit the bleachers to allow for other viewers to enter the seating area safely.

All athletes will also be required to fill out virtual U.S. Figure Skating Waivers before competing. Skaters are expected to wear face coverings during their visit, though they are permitted to take off their masks when performing on the ice.

The skating competition will be held from June 10 to June 13 at the Allen Event Center and Community Ice Rink. Athletes interested in attending the event must register by May 9. Those who register will be sent an email with additional information about the venue's safety plan.
