Allen community project to help the environment

Keep Allen Beautiful will organize a community cleanup session in November at a local creek.

Locals who want to participate in a community project can join Keep Allen Beautiful on a creek cleaning session by the Allen Heritage Village. The event will cover about a quarter-mile of the creek. Participants will meet at the Tabernacle Pavilion. Those who join Keep Allen Beautiful’s activity can receive a complimentary lunch and can take part in raffles throughout the cleaning experience. There will also be live music at the event. Mary Foster is the cleanup’s supervisor.

Keep Allen Beautiful is an organization affiliated with Keep Texas Beautiful and Keep America Beautiful. The group was founded by the Allen City Council in 1997 to help the community stay clean and attractive. The project has won several awards, including the Keep America Beautiful President’s Circle Award, the Keep Texas Beautiful Gold Star Affiliate Award, and the Keep Texas Beautiful Sustained Excellence Award.

The creek cleaning session will be held on Saturday, November 23 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. Participants in the cleaning project must be at least 13 years old to register for the event. People can park at the Allen Heritage Village and the Allen Senior Recreation Center. Communities that hold cleanups such as this may use flyer printing to increase awareness of their programs.
