Allen Americans hold annual teddy bear toss

The Allen Americans hockey team recently undertook a project to collect toys for children in need, and they asked their fans to get involved as well.

The team held its annual Teddy Bear Toss when it played against the Utah Grizzlies. It partnered with Scottish Rite Hospital and 444 Angel to gather hundreds of stuffed toys. These will be distributed this holiday season to children in the hospital who can use a new friend to cuddle.

The public was asked to take part by coming to the game with their teddy bear for donation, and when the team scored its first goal of the game, to throw them out on the ice. They were then collected for distribution. There were some bears for sale in the team’s gift shop for those who forgot to bring one but who still wanted to make a contribution. A company that creates Promotional Products can produce special toys that can be used for this type of event. They can have the team’s logo on them and be made from materials that represent the team’s colors.

All told, 5,235 bears were donated after the first goal by the American player Ian Schultz. The team wished to express its thanks for all those who went out of their way to help make the holidays a little bit brighter for an ill child.
