All prepares for a pumpkin derby racer

Youth in Allen will have a chance this fall to make and race a pumpkin derby. There will be workshops to help put together the derbies, and then a race late in October.

Contestants put together and decorate their own pumpkin derbies, with the end goal of racing them at the end of the month. For those who need help building their derby, there will be four workshops held on Fridays. There will be derby kits on sale at these workshops for $20 apiece.

On the day of the races, there will be three separate races. The first will be for ages eight and under, from noon to 12:45 pm. Ages 9 to 12 will race from 1:00 pm to 1:45 pm, and ages 13 to 17 from 2:00 pm to 2:45 pm. Apart from the races, there will be awards for Best Design. Registration is $20 for racers ages 9 to 17; racers eight and under have a $10 registration fee.

Events like this typically take advantage of banner printing, and use Banners to advertise for the event, as well as to allocate spaces for specific groups.

The derby workshops will be on Fridays, October 5, 12, 19, and 26, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm, at The Edge Visitor Center. The races are all scheduled to take place on Saturday, October 27. The event will be held at the Allen Community Ice Rink, off East Stacy Road.
