Developers recently unveiled plans for a new mixed-use development between Gallatin and Hendersonville, with the centerpiece being an NHL-style ice rink.
The rink, tentatively named the Sumner County Ice Centre, would include two professional-sized ice rinks for year-round use, and seating for at least 1,800 spectators. The venue would be set up for skate parties and amateur events with food and beverage sales, as well as community events and performances. The rink is part of the Nashville Predators hockey team’s efforts to build community rinks around Tennessee, which has included developments in Clarksville, Antioch, and Bellevue.
The Sumner County rink would be part of a larger development called The Goat Farm, named after the site’s agricultural history. The plans include 130 residential units, a 120-room hotel, 60,000 square feet of space for restaurants or retail stores and 36,000 square feet of indoor recreational venues. New developments like this often use tools like banner printing and billboards that can be seen by passing drivers to draw in visitors and tenants. The development plans will need to be approved by the Gallatin City Council before going forward.
The Sumner County Ice Centre and broader Goat Farm are planned to be developed on a 54-acre site on the eastern corner of Nashville Pike and Shute Lane, across the road from Jack Anderson Elementary School.
