A three-week introductory sewing course aimed at beginners will take place this June in Gallatin. It will offer participants a structured path to creating their own garments.
Organized by Clover & Cottage in partnership with The Artisan Hatchery, the program is designed to teach foundational dressmaking skills in a supportive, small-group setting.
The course will guide attendees through key techniques essential for new sewists. Instruction includes interpreting commercial sewing patterns, taking precise body measurements, cutting fabric accurately, and assembling a simple summer dress from start to finish. The curriculum is tailored for individuals with no prior sewing experience, making it accessible to first-time learners.
All necessary materials are included in the registration fee. Participants will have access to fabric, patterns, sewing notions, and machines during each session. By the end of the series, attendees are expected to complete a wearable garment, reinforcing practical skills learned throughout the program.
The total cost for the full three-session course is $120. Organizers note that class sizes are intentionally kept small to encourage individualized instruction and collaboration among participants. Events of this nature are often promoted through traditional methods such as poster printing, alongside digital outreach.
The Beginner Dressmaking Series will be conducted on June 14, June 21, and June 28. Sessions start at 2:00 p.m. at The Artisan Hatchery, 223 North Water Avenue, Gallatin, Tennessee.
