Gallatin is hosting its annual holiday shopping weekend and community celebration this November.
Holiday Tinsel and Treasures has been taking place on the second weekend of November in downtown Gallatin for more than 50 years. The long-running tradition is intended to promote local businesses while letting residents start their shopping in a festive atmosphere. Participating shops usually debut their seasonal decorations during the weekend and offer special sales and promotions.
Sponsoring businesses design a commemorative canvas shopping bag each year. This year’s bag sponsors include Crown & Iris, Fitness 1440 and Simmons Bank. Participating shops sell a range of items and include Apple and Dove Flower Company, Gibson’s Furniture & Patio and Twirls Bridal & Formal. A complete list is available on the Gallatin Area Chamber of Commerce’s website. Stores often use poster printing services to advertise their participation in this type of event.
The Gallatin Farmers Market, which is located downtown and open on Saturdays from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, will also be Christmas-themed on Saturday, November 9. Local singers and songwriters Mattie Taylor, Dean Harlem, and Steve “Jonesy” Jones will perform. Vendors will have a selection of handcrafted gift items as well as late fall produce available for sale.
Holiday Tinsel and Treasures will take place from Friday, November 8 to Sunday, November 10 throughout downtown Gallatin. Individual store hours will vary.
