Gallatin residents will have the opportunity to learn some local history while hearing ghost stories this summer.
Ghosts of Gallatin is a 90-minute walking tour starting from the Sumner County Courthouse and making multiple stops in Gallatin Square. Allen Sircy, the author of the Southern Ghost Stories series, will lead the experience. Haunted sites in Gallatin include Andrew Jackson’s law office, which current tenants report is home to a spirit with a strong preference for country music, and the Fairview Plantation, which is said to be haunted by a Union soldier who died there during the Civil War. In addition to the stories, Sircy will be sharing some spooky photos that guests have taken during previous tours last fall.
While the tour will include some scary stories, it is family-friendly and open to all ages. Tour guides often use brochure printing services to share locations’ historical details with guests. Those interested in the Ghosts of Gallatin walking tour need to buy tickets in advance on the website. The ticket cost is $20 for adults and $12 for children 12 or younger. Sircy’s book, Southern Ghost Stories: Ghosts of Gallatin, is available as a paperback and a Kindle book.
The next tour dates will be Friday, July 1 and Saturday, July 2, starting at 7:00 pm on both evenings in Gallatin Square.
