Gallatin church to host health and wellness fair

The Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) Wellness Project is offering a Community Health and Wellness Expo in Gallatin this summer.

The expo will offer information booths, health screenings, individual counseling and education sessions, and activities for kids. Attendees can receive simple dental exams, general health screenings, emotional health sessions, financial education, and counseling sessions. They can also get training on how to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), discuss existing disparities in preventive health services, and learn about their insurance options if they are uninsured or insufficiently insured.

Attendees will have opportunities to get free fresh produce if they fill out surveys during the expo. Door prizes and other giveaways will also be available, as well as lunch. Sponsors often provide Promotional Products to be included with giveaway prizes. Businesses and organizations interested in partnering with the Project can contact the organizers by email.

The event is free and open to anyone interested in attending. A full list of participating vendors is available on the HBCU Wellness Project’s website and will be updated weekly until the event. The Project works to train students at these universities to work with nearby communities to improve health and reduce the risk of chronic conditions.

The Community Health and Wellness Expo will take place on Saturday, June 29 from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm at West Eastland Church of Christ in Gallatin.
