Johnston's nature series showcases beavers

A local nature series is gearing up for its latest gathering in Johnston, providing an educational experience that allows local parents and their children to learn about local wildlife.

The Greenway Wild Walks learning experiences will resume this June, with the latest event shedding light on Rhode Island’s beavers through the Brilliant Beavers segment. The class, which is organized by the Woonasquatucket River Watershed Council, will provide an immersive learning journey that teaches how beavers can help prevent droughts, runoff, and wildfires in their habitats.

The walk will take place along the Woonasquatucket River near Goldsmith Street, with the focus of the experience being the Manton Pond site. Participants will get to see examples of stream bank restoration and stormwater management during the walk. Brochure printing is a fantastic way to provide educational materials to attendees at learning events like this.

Participation is open to interested parties of all ages, and the path is accessible in most places. The guide will use an exploratory pace with frequent stops. Guests can expect to walk nearly a mile during the hour-long learning experience. Interested parties are encouraged to check and dress for the weather conditions and bring water.

The Brilliant Beavers experience will be held on Saturday, June 27 starting at 2:00 PM. Participants will meet at 15 Goldsmith Street in Johnston. Registration is free and open online.
