Johnston library offers introduction to home learning

The Johnston Public Library will be holding a workshop about homeschooling in March for families in Rhode Island and Massachusetts.

Introduction to Homeschooling is a class organized by ENRICHri that offers families information about topics like the state laws concerning homeschooling and district policies. Attendees will also learn various learning styles, the importance of socialization, and how to plan curriculums for homeschooled students. The workshop will even give examples of why families have chosen to homeschool their kids, and share resources for people who are interested in homeschooling.

ENRICHri is an organization that supports homeschoolers by offering them educational workshops and providing a forum to discuss topics such as curriculum questions and unschooling with other families. The group was founded by 10 homeschooling families in 2009. Many events are organized by ENRICHri, including field trips to Hornbine School and the Steel Yard. Organizations that hold children’s activities like these may promote their trips by utilizing flyer printing.

The Introduction to Homeschooling Workshop will be held on Saturday, March 5 from 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm. All Rhode Island and Massachusetts families are invited to take part in the class. There is no price for the public to attend ENRICHri’s presentation. Homeschoolers who are interested in joining the organization can pay $30 for a yearly membership, which features benefits such as access to members-only trips and support groups.
