Johnston club to discuss urban fantasy book

The Marian J. Mohr Memorial Library will be organizing a book club meeting in Johnston about the novel Vassa in the Night.

Fans of the urban fantasy genre can attend a meeting held by the Forever Young literature club. The group will be discussing Sarah Porter’s Vassa in the Night, which is a modern retelling of the Slavic fairytale called Vassilisa the Beautiful. Those who put together club meetings such as this can use flyer printing for advertising their gatherings to others.

Porter is a novelist who has written Books like When I Cast Your Shadow, The Twice Lost, and Tentacle and Wing. Her novels are sold at Barnes and Noble, Indiebound, and Amazon. Porter also leads creative writing workshops organized by the Teachers & Writers Collaborative. She is represented by the Friedrich Agency, which has supported talented writers like Peter Abrahams, Dwayne Alexander Smith, and Leigh Ann Henion.

The group will meet on Friday, May 6 from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Those interested in attending the book’s discussion are not required to register in advance. The meeting is intended for people who are 18 and older. No payment is necessary to take part in the Forever Young club.
