The Night of the Rising Stars dinner is taking place this May in Smithfield, hosted by the North Central Chamber of Commerce. A portion of proceeds raised will go to support the Samaritans Program.
The event is set to include a cocktail reception, dinner, and the presentation of awards. The keynote speaker will be John M. LaCross who is the Chief of Police for Barrington. Awards are given out in the categories of Community Service, Rising Star, Ambassador, and Small Business of the Year. Scholarships will also be awarded to several local students.
The Samaritans Program of Rhode Island is an organization that helps to prevent cases suicide, and all of its programs are provided free of charge.
This popular annual event is expected to draw chamber and non-chamber members from all over the area, including nearby Johnston. It's possible that local brochure printers have been asked to provide the program book, which all attendees will receive on the day. Companies that wish to advertise in it can do so for $80 or $140.
Night of the Rising Stars will be held at the Twelve Acres Countryside Banquet on May 13 from 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm. Tickets are $50 each. To learn more about this event, contact Kelly Patz at 401-349-4674, or visit the websites of the local chamber or Samaritans group.
