Author to read at Johnston library

A local writer will appear in December at the Marian J. Mohr Memorial Library in Johnston.

Those interested in hearing about stories set in Northern Rhode Island can attend a program led by author Michael Fine. He will be reading his work at the library and will be introduced by Mayor Joseph Polisena. Those interested in a copy of the book being read can contact the library in advance. The program is intended for a grown-up audience. Those who set up activities such as this may utilize Print shops to make ads for their programs.

Fine is a writer who initially worked as a community organizer and family physician. He also served as the Director of the Rhode Island Department of Health and is the Managing Director of HealthAccessRI. Fine currently is part of the Boards of Crossroads Rhode Island and works as the chief health strategist for Central Falls. His past works include Abundance, Health Care Revolt, and Rhode Island Stories. People can purchase short stories written by Fine for $1.99.

The live reading will be held on Wednesday, December 8 at 7:00 pm. Those interested in receiving updates from Fine and being sent one free short story every month can sign up for his website. People wanting to hear more from the author may listen to his podcast, which is called Alternative Fictions.
