June is a great month for Kingston to be on the Susquehanna, and many kayakers and canoers will be joining Wyoming Valley Riverfest, which is coming towards the end of June.
A shuttle will be at the Nesbitt Park boat launch on Pierce Street at 8:00 am to take guests to Harding’s Appletree Launch. There, everyone will begin a 14-mile journey back to the park. A bathroom and water stop will occur in West Pittston. Once back at Nesbitt Park, the group will be greeted with music, outdoor exhibits, and food from local vendors.
Reservations are required. Single tickets are $45, and canoe and tandems are $60. Those providing their own crafts will pay only $25. Each participant will receive a T-shirt sporting the event’s graphic design. Wyoming Valley Riverfest will take place Saturday, June 24.
A shorter afternoon trip will happen the day before, with another Wyoming Valley Riverfest. Again, the shuttle will be at Nesbitt Park and will leave for West Pittston at 4:00 pm. This will be a two-and-a-half-hour, seven-mile float back to the park. The flotilla will arrive at sunset.
Single tickets for kayaks will cost $45, canoes and tandem kayaks will be $60, and guests bringing their own floating transportation will be charged only $25. Reservation will be required.
This pre-Wyoming Valley Riverfest will happen Friday, June 23.
