Individuals in and around Kingston can take part in a unique athletic event that will help bring the community together.
The 12th Annual Wilkes-Barre Duathlon consists of two 5K runs with a 16-mile bike ride in the middle. The local family YMCA is hosting the event.
The course begins at Public Square and then goes through Wilkes-Barre before proceeding to Hanover Township. The running course also goes across Market Street Bridge, which goes over the Susquehanna River.
Registration costs $65 for the duathlon and $100 for the duathlon relay.
Groups of at least five registered individuals, a minimum of two of whom need to be females, can take part in the ‘Club Challenge’. Awards will be given to the top three fastest clubs. Clubs can also get perks like discounts on registration, while bigger groups can have access to a team tent.
Volunteers are needed for the registration table, along with the running and bike courses. While supplies last, volunteers will receive a complimentary shirt.
The event has a variety of sponsors that helped fund the event, and no doubt a banner printing service was used to make large Signs to welcome participants to the race. Sponsors’ logos are often included on these Banners.
It all takes place on June 21, beginning with registration at 6:00 am. The duathlon begins at 7:30 am and an awards ceremony will follow at 11:00 am at Rodano’s, located on 53 Public Square in Wilkes-Barr.
