Luzerne County offers talent competition

The Northeast Pennsylvania Music Teachers Association is presenting the “Luzerne County’s Got Talent” competition in mid-March.

A collection of 25 gifted performers from Kingston and around the county will be competing live on stage to become the winner of the 2022 contest. The winner will receive $1,000 (decided by a panel of judges) and bragging rights. Audience members will vote for the three top People’s Choice winners. First place will be $750, $500 will go the runner up, and $250 will go to third place. All county residents will be eligible to participate.

Proceeds from the evening will go to a scholarship fund endowment for local rising star musicians.

Contestants will be chosen by a panel of judges through virtual preliminary auditions held during January. Submissions are $25 and the video auditions must be uploaded on nepmta.org before This Saturday, January 15. The emcee for the event will be State Representative Eddie Day Pashinski.

Winners of talent competitions usually have pictures taken at the events and later sent to local Print shops to be used in their entries into other contests.

Adult general admission tickets are $18 while senior and children’s tickets are $13, and all can be purchased online.

The finals for the Luzerne County’s Got Talent competition will take place at the F.M. Kirby Center, 71 Public Square, Wilkes- Barre on March 2, beginning at 1:30 pm.
