Locals enjoy a homegrown event

Wilkes University, just a few miles away from Kingston, is hosting a three-day homecoming event for students, friends, and faculty members early next month.

Attendees can enjoy a walking tour of the campus, a welcome area with refreshments, an art gallery exhibition, and a campus gateway dedication. Another highlight is several performances of ‘Our Town’ in the Wilkes University Theater. Admission is $10 or $5 for students and seniors.

A catalog printing service has probably been busy creating a publication containing information about the college’s history, classes, and accomplishments.

Attendees can watch several sporting events, including a women's soccer game, a volleyball match, a football game, and a field hockey competition. Prior to the football game, guests can go to the tailgate tent. For $15, or $20 on game day, individuals will get two food tickets and have access to other refreshments. In the tent, children can check out the kids’ corner, where there will be a bounce house and games.

Alumni can enjoy a 50th Reunion Cocktail Reception or, for $50 per person, the Class of 1965 Dinner. On the final day at 10:00 am, there will be a 5K fun run and walk to fight cancer. Registration costs $15, or $20 on event day.

The Homecoming Event will take place from October 2 until October 4. The majority of the festivities will take place at various locations at the University.
