F.M. Kirby Center for the Performing Arts will once again present its traditional holiday ballet “The Nutcracker.” However, this year, it will present it online with “Christmas Stream Moscow Ballet’s Great Russian Nutcracker.”
This will be a full stage performance of Tchaikovsky’s classic tale of a little girl’s infatuation with a nutcracker Christmas present given to her by her magical and mysterious Uncle Drosselmeyer. Once again, viewers can enjoy music and dance such as “Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy”, and “Waltz of the Flowers.”
Stationery printers have traditionally used pictures of this colorful ballet for Holiday Cards, notecards, and stationery.
Tickets include a backstage look at how the performance is produced. This will also include visits with the creators, designers, and dancers.
A meet and greet will air 30 minutes prior to the stream on Zoom, where a Moscow Ballet artist will answer questions posed by Kingston viewers.
Moscow Ballet-themed nutcrackers will be included in one ticket option. Other nutcrackers, including the prince/soldier, a Moscow Ballet 25th Anniversary soldier, a Drosselmeyer, Rat King, and snowflake nutcrackers can be purchased through the website’s store.
Tickets are $24.99 for general admission, $39.99 for the meet and greet followed by the stream, and $69.99 the addition of the themed nutcracker.
The ballet will be streamed December 19 beginning at 8:00 pm. The video will also be accessible on Marquee TV from December 19 through January 1.
