Kingston walks to end epilepsy

The Epilepsy Foundation of Eastern Pennsylvania will be hosting its annual Walk to End Epilepsy here in Kingston in early October.

The walk has been created to raise awareness and funds for eradicating epilepsy. Attendees are encouraged to wear purple gear to show their support for the cause.

Registration is $10 per participant and those raising $35 or more will receive free registration, plus event T-shirts sporting this year's End Epilepsy Logo Design.

Race incentives also include prizes and awards for the team with most members, first to sign up, top social media poster, and top individual fundraiser.

Those donating $50 will be providing planners and coaching materials for adults dealing with epilepsy. Donations of $100 will fund purchasing resource materials and supplies for the Michael P Loughlin Epilepsy Community and Resource Center. A $350 donation will send one young camper to Camp Achieve, and $1,000 donations will help train school districts in first aid and seizure recognition. This year's total goal for the walk is $30,000.

Check-in begins at 9:00 am on race day with the ribbon cutting and opening ceremony at 10:00 am. The walk will begin soon after and will end around noon.

Walk to End Epilepsy will be Saturday, October 5 at Kirby Park Pavilion 1, 280 Market Street from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon. This event will take place rain or shine.
