The Run/Walk for Kids’ Sake 5K will be an event to raise funds for the Big Brother/Big Sister (BBBS) of the Bridge program.
The BBBS program offers a one-to-one pairing of area children who are facing adversity with a caring adult, with over 250 children currently on the waiting list. The event will have a 5K timed run, a 5K fun walk, and a ½ mile Kids Fun Run for children 12 and under.
All 5K participants will receive Run/Walk for Kids’ Sake t-shirts. Gift cards worth $50 will be given to the top male and female overall winners of the 5K run. Awards for the 5K will also be given to the top three male and female finishers in seven age categories.
Adult participants will pay a $20 preregistration fee or $25 registration fee on the day of the event. Registration fee for kids 12 and under who will be running the 5K will be $10. However, the ½ mile Kids’ Fun Run will be free. Groups may want to have some banner printing done to carry identification Banners with them on the walk.
The event will begin at the Martz Pavilion in Kirby Park, 160 Market Street in Wilkes – Barr this Saturday, July 16. Registration will begin at 8:00 am, the ½ mile Kids’ run begins at 8:30 am, and the big race follows at 9:00 am.
