In a couple of weeks our area will be ushering in the holiday season with a parade and the lighting of the town’s Christmas tree.
The big day will begin at the Barnes & Noble Wilkes-Kings with the opening of ‘WhoVille’. There children can listen to stories, do coloring and painting activities and get their hair styled like Dr. Who.
‘Broken Road Due’ will be presented by Making a Difference Ministries. Afterward the F.M. Kirby Center will have the YOUniversal Suzuki Strings in its lobby. Also during the afternoon, Ms. Ruthy Stock will be directing a Christmas Carol Sing-A-Long in the Public Square. Visitors can stop in at local shops to purchase Holiday Cards.
In mid-afternoon, the Christmas Parade will step off at the intersection of South Main and South Street. It will travel north along Main Street, circle Public Square, and end on North Main Street.
The Tree Lighting ceremony will take place right after the parade. Kingston visitors will be invited to enjoy free hot chocolate compliments of the Wilkes-Barre Lions Club and the Salvation Army.
‘Christmas With a Twist’ will be the evening concert at the First Presbyterian Church of Wilkes-Barre, 97 South Franklin Street.
The celebration will be in Downtown Wilkes-Barre on Public Square on November 18, starting at 11:00 am and going until after the concert, which will start at 6:00 pm. The parade will begin at 3:00 pm.
