Kingston runs and walks for charity

For Kingston runners/walkers looking for something to do over the Labor Day weekend, the Candlehouse/Hope Teen Challenge Annual Labor Day 5 K will be returning for its second time. The event will also have an untimed 1.1 Mile Fun Walk.

Kudos go out to last year’s winners – Marina Orrson and John Martino. This year the race organizers are hoping to exceed 51- the total of runners that participated last year.

The wheel-measured course will be mostly paved with a few gravel/dirt stretches.

Awards will be distributed to the top three finishers in 10-year age groups. Some age groups may have more than one division depending on the number of entries. There will also be awards for the top female and male finishers.

Runners will receive bananas, watermelon, oranges, Gatorade and water at the finish line. Local businesses and organizations are contributing Promotional Products, coupons, discounts and other items for the raffle and giveaways.

Runners and spectators are asked to bring non- perishable food items to be donated to the Candlehouse/Hope Teen Challenge.

This year’s Candlehouse/Hope Teen Challenge Annual Labor Day 5K is scheduled for Monday, September 3rd. The race will begin at 9:00 AM at the Market Street entrance to Kirby Park. Registration will begin at 7 AM. All the $20 registration fees will go to Candlehouse to benefit Hope Teen Challenge.
