Kingston goes to the county fair

Many here in Kingston will be going to the 2024 Luzerne County Fair coming in early September.

Rain or shine the five-day event will have a special theme for each day. "Opening Day" will include poultry, wine, goats and rabbit judging, the Opening Ceremony and rides on the midway.

Thursday, Senior Citizens Day, will have open horse and pony halter judging and after halter class.

Food Drive Friday will offer a $2.00 discount to those bringing non-perishable food items for a local food bank, highlights will include Open Gymkana Event, Reo Speedwagon and Journey tribute bands.

Fans of bands like these often go online and purchase merchandise featuring the original group's graphic design.

Saturday will be First Responders Appreciation Day with a special fireworks show beginning at 9:00 pm. On Saturday evening beginning at 6:00 pm the annual Tool and Tack Auction will begin with youth market livestock and move on to new horse, goat and cattle tack, barn tools, equipment and non-farm items such as handbags, purses, and sunglasses.

Sunday Veteran Appreciation Day will include Power Wheels Demonstration Derby, tractor obstacle rodeo, a kiddie tractor pull, and a dog agility demonstration.

Puppet shows, pig racing, dog shows, arts and crafts displays, and Rock-N-Circus Stunt Shows are on the agenda for all five days.

The 2024 Luzerne County Fair will take place from Wednesday September 5th to Sunday September 8th at 3605 State Route 118, Dallas.
