Kingston families and friends will attend the 64th Annual Fine Arts Fiesta, which is coming in a few days.
The four-day event will feature dance, sketches, drama, and music. More than 60,000 people are expected to attend. The festival will have two juried art exhibits – one for adults the other for students.
An artists’ market will give the public an opportunity to meet the local talent and purchase original items. Over 35 artists will be selling items such as pottery, photography, jewelry, mixed media, clothing, drawings, and leather goods. Artists at events such as this usually bring plenty of Business Cards so passersby can get in touch with them at a later date or for custom pieces.
A total of 12 food vendors will be selling everything from hot dogs, gyros, Stromboli, and sausage, to ribs, kettle corn, and ice cream.
Performances will include local schools jazz bands, choruses, glee clubs and orchestras. Lucky Chops will be the event’s headliner and Dotgov will be the final performance on Sunday.
The children’s tent will have puppet shows, puppet making workshops, and Cassandra Lewis sharing her latest book, Mamma’s Kangaroo & Nursery Rhymes for Modern Times.
Strolling performers such as Mother Goose, a mime, and clown will be greeting and talking with the children. There will be face painting and 15 to 20-minute children’s workshops.
The Fine Arts Fiesta will take place May 16 through 19 at the Wilkes-Barre Public Square.
