Summers here in Kingston would not be complete without the free family friendly Rockin the River Concert Series, and this year’s 5th annual music event will be coming in mid-July.
More than 3,000 people are expected to attend each of the three nights.
Satisfaction, a Rolling Stones tribute band, will begin the series on Friday, July 14. The following Friday’s guests will be treated to music from Fleetwood Mac with An Evening with Stevie. The last concert, July 28, will have two bands – The Badlees and Joe Burk & Co.
Fans that go to tribute concerts often either dig out their old T-shirts featuring the original band’s graphic design or go to the tribute band’s website to purchase new merchandise.
The venue will open at 5:00 pm with food trucks ready for business. At 6:00 pm the music will start, and things should wind down around 9:00 pm.
One way to enjoy the concerts is to kayak from the Plains Boat launch, paddling and floating the four miles to the concert venue. The trip will take about two hours. Everyone may remain in their crafts and listen to the music. These excursions will be available all three nights and boaters will meet at the Nesbitt Park boat launch. Single tickets will be available for $55, tandem or canoes will be $100, and anyone bringing their own crafts will pay $35.
Rockin the River 2023 will take place at Millennium Circle, 92 N River Street, Wilkes-Barre.
