Those here in Kingston who enjoy the circus will have lots of circus experience options during April.
The Peking Acrobats will show their technical prowess with precision tumbling, somersaulting, juggling, trick-cycling and other gymnastic feats for two performances at the F.M. Kirby Center, 71 Public Square, Wilkes-Barre, on April 2nd. One performance will be at 10:00 am and the other at 6:30 pm.
The Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza, 255 Highland Park Boulevard, Wilkes-Barre, will present a Cirque du Soleil, OVO (egg in Portuguese) experience with acrobatics depicting the life cycle of selected insects. Performances will begin at 7:00 pm on April 3rd, 4th and 5th, 3:00 pm on Saturday the 5th and 1:00 pm on Sunday the 6th.
On April 21st, the 74-year-old nonprofit Irem Shrine Circus will take place right here in town at the Kingston Armory, 22 1/2 East Union Street.
The three-ringed event includes camels, ponies, dogs and pig performing along with aerial acts, acrobats, and clowns.
Irem clowns will be signing autograph Books, and kids will get the opportunity to get their faces painted, ride the camels and ponies, take a train ride, and enjoy those traditional circus concessions.
Proceeds will go to funding the parade units and other groups that raise funds for children's hospitals.
Admission will run from $8 to $22.
The Irem Shrine Circus will perform Monday, April 21 at 1:30 pm and again at 7:00 pm.
