Kingston celebrates holidays with music

F.M. Kirby Center for the Performing Arts will be celebrating the holidays with three Christmas-themed shows during December.

On December 12, the center will present Elf on the Shelf: A Christmas Musical. This will be a live all-new stage production that features an original score and story of Scout Elves and their magical lives at the North Pole. Doors will open at 4:30 pm and the performance will begin at 6:00 pm. Tickets range from $29.50 to $125.00.

Home for the Holidays will be on December 14. The Northern Appalachian Wind Symphony will have one performance at the center. Narrators, tin soldiers, singers, and Santa will bring in the holiday spirit with traditional and new songs. A menorah will be lit and a Christmas tree trimmed to create a cozy scene by the fire. The curtain will go up at 7:30 pm, and the program will end at 9:30 pm. Tickets will run from $16.67 to $20.

The Moscow Ballet will present Great Russian Nutcracker on December 17. The audience will view hand-painted sets, over 200 costumes, world-class dancers, overjoyed Nesting Dolls, and Russian Snow Maidens. The performance will start at 7:00 pm. Tickets are from $29 to $79.

Performance venues such as this one often have pictures taken at these festive performances. The pictures are included in the venues’ brochure printing for the following year.

The Kirby Center for the Creative Arts is at 260 N. Sprague Avenue in Kingston.
