Kingston area gets into festive spirit a month early

The Wilkes-Barre City Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting ceremony and the Trans-Siberian Orchestra have been scheduled toward the end of November.

Kingston businesses, clubs, associations, schools, and anyone else wishing to decorate their carts, wagons or themselves in holiday finery are invited to join in the annual Wilkes-Barre City Christmas Parade. Parade registration will remain open until Monday, November 8.

Participants are to line up starting at 2:00 pm at the Wilkes-Barre Public Square, and the parade will step off at 3:00 pm.

The tree lighting ceremony will be on the square following the parade, which, along with the tree lighting ceremony, will be free to watch.

Spectators at events such as this often take pictures of their favorite parade participants or of their family members in the parade. These photos often go to local Print shops or Stationery printers to be made into Christmas cards.

The next afternoon and evening, this year’s Christmas weekend entertainment will be The Trans-Siberian Orchestra celebrating its 25th year of its traditional Ghosts of Christmas Eve and Other Stories at Casey Plaza’s Mohegan Sun Arena, 255 Highland Park Boulevard. Tickets start at $49.50.

The Christmas parade and tree lighting will take place Saturday, November 20 and the Trans-Siberian Orchestra will play on Sunday, November 21 at 3:00 pm and 7:30 pm.
