Kingston area experiences all of Shakespeare in 90 minutes

Gaslight Theatre Company will be presenting an abridged Complete Works of William Shakespeare during September. Five performances are being scheduled at three locations around Wilkes-Barre.

The performances will be 90-minute comedic romps through abridgements of all 37 of Shakespeare’s comedies, tragedies, and histories. David Reynolds, Gaslight’s Artistic Director, will be guiding a three-member cast composed of Gaslight Board members Tim McDermott, Dane Bower, and Jason Alfano.

The first presentation will be “Shakespeare on the River” Thursday, September 12th. This free outdoor performance will be along the Susquehanna River at the Northhampton Street Amphitheater Portal starting at 6:00 pm. If the weather causes a problem the event will be moved to Downtown Arts at 47 North Franklin Street.

Next, the production moves to “Shakespeare in the Park”. This will also be a free outdoor event that will take place at the amphitheater behind the Pittston Library, 47 Board Street, Pittston.

Finally, the performance moves indoors to Downtown Arts. Three ticketed performances are scheduled for Friday, September 20 and Saturday, September 21 starting at 8:00 pm and Sunday, September 22 when the curtain goes up at 2:00 pm. General admission will be $15 for adults and $12 for seniors, students and military. Tickets can only be bought at the door on the day of the event.

Some teachers or Shakespeare aficionados might want to get some flyer printing done to pass the word along.
