Summer is here and the Kingston area will celebrate with strawberries at Wilkes-Barre City’s 2nd Annual Strawberry Festival, the opening of the Farmers Market in June, and traditional fireworks on the 4th of July.
The Strawberry Festival will feature vendors selling everything imaginable, such as fresh berries, jams, jellies, pies, plants, and many other items that have to do with the summery fruit. The Strawberry Jam Duo will perform from noon until 1:30 pm. This event will take place on Wilkes-Barre Public Square this Thursday, June 20, from 10:00 am until 4:00 pm.
On June 27, Mayor Tony George will host the Opening Day Ceremonies for the City of Wilkes-Barre’s 2019 Farmers’ Market. John Shemo will sing the National Anthem. Mother Nature’s Sons will be performing from noon until 1:30 pm as part of the 2019 ‘Music at the Market’.
Kingston will celebrate Independence Day with an Old Fashioned Fourth of July on Thursday, July 4th in Kirby Park, 280 Market Street. The park will be filled with rides, vendors, crafts and food from 11:00 am until 6:00 pm. Live music will run from 7:00 pm until 9:00 pm and the sky will burst into fireworks at dusk.
Towns that host hometown events such as these usually take pictures of the events and use them for brochure printing of visitors’ guides and historical memorabilia.
