Kingston area celebrates spring with festival

The City of Wilkes-Barre will be presenting its 41st Cherry Blossom Festival ibefore the month ends. Thousands of people are expected to attend the two-day event.

There will be homemade crafts and food for sale along with games and rides for the kids, live music and dancing.

The first day will host the 12th Annual ‘Pirouettes in the Park’. This will be an outdoor dance festival with hundreds of dancers of all ages. Local dance studios from Kingston and surrounding areas and school bands will be entertaining on the venue’s stage in 20-minute intervals.

HotShots Car Club will be hosting its annual Car Show on Sunday. The Followers Praise Band and Stephan L. Perillo will be performing during the early afternoon, after which Benjamin Horrevoets and his acoustic guitar will take the stage.

The second afternoon will also feature the second Cherry Blossom Festival pageant. Proceeds from the pageant will go to the Children’s Miracle Network.

The city will no doubt be taking pictures throughout this event for the city’s 2019 visitors’ guide brochure printing.

The 2018 Cherry Blossom Festival will be April 28 and 29 from 9:00 am until 7:00 pm at Kirby Park, 301 Northampston Street, Wilkes-Barre. Pirouettes in the Park will take place from 11:00 am until 5:00 pm on Saturday. The Cherry Blossom Pageant will be from 11:00 am until 12:30 pm on Sunday, April 29. The car show will run throughout the event on Sunday.
