Kingston area attends Christmas Theater

The Christmas season is a time for the performing arts to burst in to full display. This year is no exception as at least five of the area’s upcoming events are festively themed.

The first will be the beloved classic ‘A Charlie Brown Christmas’. This new live production features the Peanuts, gang but still retains traditional Vince Guaraldi music, and takes place Wednesday, November 28 at 6:30 pm.

The Moscow Ballet will perform its iconic Great Russian Nutcracker for one night only. The performance will be replete with hand-painted sets and world class dancers. It has been slated for Friday, December 14 with curtain going up at 7:00 pm.

A Magical Cirque Christmas will also have a one-night performance on Thursday, December 20 with the curtain going up at 7:30 pm. This is touted as being ‘jaw-dropping’, with circus acts, magic, and Christmas carols sung onstage with live singers accompanied by live musicians.

The season would not be complete without Kingston families seeing ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’. On December 21, there will be two showings of the Frank Capra classic that features George Bailey, Mr. Potter the miser, and Clarence the angel. They commence at 1:00 pm and 7:30 pm.

Many businesses and corporations give tickets to these events as Corporate Gifts for Christmas. All performances will be at the F.M. Kirby Center, 71 Public Square, Wilkes-Barre.
