Holiday pop-up shops open for business

Kingston shoppers can begin looking for those holiday necessities at the 2020 Downtown Wilkes-Barre Pop-Up Shops opening at the end of November.

This program, a Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber of Commerce and Diamond City Partnership initiative, will be active for 16 days, with temporary structures funded by the Luzerne County Cares Act.

Local small and home-based businesses will be using the structures to sell their seasonal and non-seasonal merchandise ,such as apparel, home goods and décor, Books, toys, art, handmade items, pet supplies, gifts, specialty goods, sporting supplies, and boutique items.

Although this will be the fourth year for the program, many businesses this year are applying because they no longer have established locations or are in the process of opening new ones. Shoppers that attend temporary locations like this often like to gather the merchants’ Business Cards so they can find them after the event ends.

The Grand Opening will be in Wilkes-Barre Public Square beginning 11:00 am on November 28, which is Small Business Saturday. On Saturdays, the businesses will open at 11:00 am and close at 7:00 pm. Sundays’ hours will be 11:00 am until 4:00 pm, and Mondays through Fridays will see shops open from 11:00 am until 6:00 pm. Exceptions will be Saturday, December 12 and Saturday, December 19, when the shops will remain open until 7:00 pm.
