Wilkes University and the other members of The Northeast Environmental Partners are hosting the 32 Annual Evening of Northeast Pennsylvania’s Environment in early November.
Emcee for the evening will be Johnson College President and CEO Dr. Katie Leonard, Ed.D.
General admission for Kingston students, retirees, non-profits, and state representatives will be $50 and $65 for all others.
Awards will go to Wilkes-Barre Worker Bee, a Luzerne County all-volunteer organization that has joined with other local community groups to clean up areas around Wilkes-Barre; preservation group Penrose of Carbon County in the process of protecting wetland and forests in the 2,700-acre Penrose Swamp Barrens; and Lackawaxen River Trail in Wayne County in raising awareness creating signage, developing river access, securing funding, and keeping its trail projects running. The Bowmanstown Area Residents Connected of Carbon County will also receive an award for its beautification projects.
Kathy Henderson of Carbon County is being recognized for her commitment and dedication to educating local business owners, residents, and municipal officials on improving the quality of life through natural resource conservation and economic development. Michael Bedrin will receive the 28th Annual Thomas P. Shelburne Environmental Leadership Award.

The event will take place Thursday, November 3 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the Woodlands Inn, Ascend Hotel Collection, 1073 Pennsylvania 315 Wilkes-Barre.
