Doowop bands reunite for one night

Doo Wop Legends Volume 2 “Oh What A Night” is coming to the Kingston area in mid-March, presented by Joe Nardone.

Opening the show will be Brian Hyland. Many doowop fans will recall his hits like the particularly memorable “Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka-Dot Bikini.” He will also perform some of his other songs such as “Ginny Come Lately,” “The Joker Went Wild,” and “Let Me Belong to You.”

Jay and the Americans will be headlining the evening. Lead vocalist Jay Reincke – along with original members Mary Kupersmith, Sandy Yaguda, Howie Kirchenbaum – will bring back their numerous on the Billboards charts, including “She Cried,” “Cara Mia,” “Come a Little Bit Closer,” and “This Magic Moment.”

Brooklyn Bridge, with lead singer Joe Esposito, will present some The Crests’ hits such as “Sixteen Candles,” Step by Step” and “The Angels Listened In,” along with their own releases.

Lou Christie, singer and co-writer of “Lighting Strikes,” and other favorites like “How Many Teardrops,” “I’m Gonna Make you Mine,” and “Beyond the Blue Horizon,” will perform too.

Many Kingston fans of groups like these go to the band’s websites and purchase their music and merchandise, usually sporting the group’s Logo Design.

The evening will be Saturday, March 12, starting at 7:00 pm at the F.M. Kirby Center for the Performing Arts, 71 Public Square.
