Rock star Dweezil Zappa will be presenting his 50 Years of Frank performance at the beginning of August. This will be the fourth time that he will be performing his father’s music in the area.
Legendary guitar player Frank Zappa, ranked as one of the 100 best guitarists of all time in Rolling Stone magazine, may have passed away 24 years ago, but his son continues to perform his father’s music in his memory.
Kingston fans of the Zappas may remember that Dweezil toured 10 years ago with the show ‘Zappa Plays Zappa’. He had to change the title of his tour to The Cease and Desist Tour due to copyright infringement issues with the Zappa Family Trust.
Zappa fans may want to drag out their Promotional Products, Flyers, and Posters from years past and bring them to the concert to show to others.
Zappa the younger will be presenting a 60-minute master guitar class before the show. The presentation will include a technique demonstration, a forum, and improvisational strategies.
The show will be presented August 3 at the F.M. Kirby Center for the Performing Arts, 71 Public Square, Wilkes-Barre. The curtain will go up at 8:00 pm. Tickets range from $22.50 to $68.50. The guitar master class will be at 3:00 pm in the venue’s lower level art gallery, and will cost $75.
