The 2020 Pittston Tomato Festival is slated for the end of August.
More than 75,000 tomato-loving foodies from the Kingston area are expected to attend the four-day event. Activities include a 5K, bingo, games, arts and crafts, live entertainment, rides, parade, and plenty of homegrown tomatoes.
After the opening ceremony, bands will perform live over the next four days.
Saturday will begin with the Miles of Michael Pittston 5K Race and Fun walk starting at 10:00 am. The 3.1-mile course will start at William and Main Streets, go through downtown Pittston, over the Fort Jenkins Bridge, and end at the event at the festival near Water Street Bridge. Free T-shirts sporting the event’s graphic design will go to the first 150 registrants.
The 35th Annual Pittston Tomato Festival parade will begin a half hour later at 10:30 am in downtown Pittston. The two-mile route will begin in South Pittston’s Main Street travel to Kennedy Boulevard and end across from Cooper’s Co-op building on East Street.
Tomato fights will be located at Cooper’s parking lot, 304 Kennedy Boulevard, beginning at 1:30 pm. A tomato contest will be at 7:00 pm. Categories will be largest, smallest, most perfect, and ugliest.
Sunday festivities will begin at 10:45 am with the Little Mr. and Miss Tomato contest.
Pittston Tomato Festival will be August 20 to 23 in Pittston, with all proceed going to local charities.
