April brings blossoms and balls

April will be bringing the Cherry Blossom Festival, Moonlight Masquerade Ball and Mini Golf Classic to the Kingston area.

Thousands of viewers are expected to attend the annual Cherry Blossom Festival at Kirby Park, 280 Market Street, over the last weekend in April. The venue, clad in pink and white petals, will also feature craft vendors, food, games and amusement rides. Entertainment will be non-stop in the bandshell.

The Cherry Blossom Festival will take place Saturday, April 30 and Sunday, May 1 starting at 11:00 am. Stationery printers often use pictures taken at seasonal festivals when compiling spring notecard collections.

The Luzerne County Child Advocacy Center will be hosting its 6th Moonlight Masquerade Gala taking place at the Mohegan Sun Pocono, 1280 Highway 315 Blvd., on Saturday, April 23 beginning at 8:00 pm. The evening be replete with specialty concoctions, dinner, dancing and a silent auction. Individual tickets are $100 and couples’ tickets are $200.

From 11:00 am to 3:00 pm on Sunday, April 24, All “Fore” Books Mini Golf Classic, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Wilkes-Barre, will be taking place at the Osterhout Free Library, 71 S. Franklin Street, Wilkes-Barre.

Golfers will play 18 holes of mini golf in the library around the book stacks. Admission will be $10 per adult and $5 per child. Balls and putters will be provided. Proceeds will go to the library’s children’s programs.
