Running of the Santas in Cranberry Township
Run Santa Run, a festive 5 km walk and run, will be held in Cranberry Township in support of Amachi Pittsburgh this December.
Amachi Pittsburgh is a non-profit organization providing emotional, social, and physical support for children who have one or both parents behind bars.
The organization works to nurture and reduce trauma for these children and provide the families with a voice within the justice system. The organization has a team of mentors who assist young people with self-confidence at school and within the community in order to encourage healthy life choices.
Runners and walkers of all ages and abilities are invited to dress up and participate in the annual event alongside other elves and Santas.
This year, in addition to the 5km race, there will be the newly added Jolly Mile distance and the Reindeer Ramble for youngsters aged 9 and under. Participants are asked to donate an unwrapped toy as a gift to infants up to 18-year-olds that are part of the Amachi program.
Runners and walkers have a chance at three top prizes for best festive attire, and all will receive event swag including fleece pajama pants and a finisher's medal. Organizers of similar outdoor events often use banner printing to highlight race finish lines.
Run Santa Run will be held December 14, 2024 at Graham Park in Cranberry Township, beginning with the kids dash at 8:45 am, followed by the two longer distance races.
