Cranberry Township ready to rock

A celebration of a special kind of rock music is on the way to the Cranberry Township area.

Jergels & Drusky Entertainment are presenting “That Arena Rock Show,” with Wicked Earth as special guests. Arena rock, also known as stadium rock, began to develop in the 1970s. It grew out of the hard rock and pop rock popular at the time, but was deliberately designed for large audiences. Songs were characterized by anthemic choruses, strong melodic lines, prominent keyboard use, and heavy guitars.

Among the most prominent arena rock bands and the songs they made famous are Aerosmith with “Walk This Way,” and Bon Jovi with their anthem “Wanted Dead or Alive.”

Wicked Earth is based in Pittsburgh and is a four-piece band that plays straight-ahead rock. Despite being relatively new, they have already built up a strong following among people who like old-fashioned rock.

The fun is scheduled for August 14 at Jergel’s, which is located on Slade Lane in Warrendale, a short distance from Cranberry Township. The doors open at 6:00 pm, with a 5:00 pm early entry. The show starts at 8:00 pm. Minors under the age of 21 will be admitted if in the company of a parent or guardian.
