The arts take over Media in June

In the middle of next month, arts will be very much the theme in State Street in Media.

Saturday, June 11 will feature the 16th annual State Street Blues Stroll from 7:00 PM – 1:00 AM. It is presented by the Media Business Authority and is part of the America’s Music Festival Series.

A number of venues will be hosting performances during the evening, including the Media Theatre. Artists appearing include Shemekia Copeland, the Blues Brothers and a Sister, and the Sister Blue Band. Tickets are $30 with the headline performance by Shemekia Copeland at the Media Theatre and $20 without, although there is a discount for WXPN members. Some of the venues require the purchase of a dinner and some are not accessible to children. Call 610-566-5039 to find out more about this event.

The following day, the 50th Media Art Exhibition and Craft Fair will take place, with a rain date of June 19 set. It is a presentation of the Town Talk Newspaper and is set to feature more than 100 arts and crafts vendors who will be selling handmade items like jewelry, clothing, paintings and ceramics. State Street and Veterans Square will be off-limits to traffic. To get the latest news, call 610-915-2253 or 610-915-2253.
