Rehab center holds unique exhibit

The 24th annual Art Ability Exhibition and Sale is currently open in Malvern at the Bryn Mawr Rehabilitation Hospital. Residents of Media will not want to miss this special exhibit.

There are over 450 pieces of artwork put together by artists from 31 states and three countries, all of whom have visual, cognitive, and physical disabilities. The media used in these pieces include photography, sculpture, jewelry, and fine crafts, as well as works on paper and canvas. Printing services are often used for creating Booklets and other materials listing the works of such artists and their backgrounds.

Curator of the exhibit, Gaby Heit, said that these artists find that their works provide much-needed therapy and the experience at the art gallery at Bryn Mawr is both uplifting and beneficial. The collection is all the more impressive, she added, given the number and diversity of the artwork.

The mission and vision of Main Line Health is supported by this program and advocates for artists with disabilities by championing for their financial and artistic success. All the pieces from the exhibit are for sale. A percentage of the sales benefits the rehabilitation programs at Bryn Mawr and 80% of each sale goes directly to the artist.

The exhibit is free and the public is invited to attend. Hours are 9:00 am to 5:00 pm through January 2020.
