The Marple Campus of Delaware County Community College (DCCC) in Media will be holding a piano and percussion concert by the icarus Quartet (iQ) next month. This concert is part of the college’s New Music Concert Series and the group will be presenting their “Textures” program.
Larry Weng, Yevgeny Yontov, Matt Keown and Jeff Stern comprise the half piano/half percussion quartet and are individually well known as soloists. Having recently debuted at Carnegie Hall, the music of the quartet draws its inspiration from the mythological creature for whom they named the quartet and they are constantly aspiring to achieve new milestones in musical artistry.
The quartet often performances in educational setting as they are passionate about engaging with the next generation of musicians. They have given composition seminars on writing for their instruments at Wright State University, Bridgeport University, the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and Yale College, and offered coaching and classes on chamber music and presentations for elementary school students and to those in the pre-kindergarten grades.
Banner printing companies can be hired to create displays throughout the community them so that people learn more about such performers and their educational efforts.
The concert will take place in the Large Auditorium in the Academic Building from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday April 2. General admission is $10 and is free to students and employees at DCCC.
