Pennsylvania professor to be honored next year

The Eastern Communication Association (ECA) has selected Dr. Susan M. Ward, a professor of communications studies at Delaware County Community College with a campus in Media to receive a Past Officers’ Award and a Distinguished Teaching Fellow Award for 2020.

Announcements of such awards can be made known throughout the college community through banner printing and other printing services.

The Distinguished Teaching Fellow Award is given to a member of the ECA who has been teaching in the communications field for at least 10 years, and has demonstrated excellence as determined by citations, peer reviews, and evaluations from students. The Past Officers’ Award is given every year to those who have been officers of the ECA, has contributed significantly to research in the field, and has a record of continued service to the Association. The ECA is 110 years old and is the oldest professional communication association in the country, consisting of teachers, students, and scholars of communications studies.

Dr. Ward expressed how honored she feels to be nominated for these awards. They reflect the investment of the educators who mentored her when she was a student, and the efforts made by her colleagues to her learning, which has made her a distinguished teacher.

Dr. Ward will receive these honors at the ECA convention in Cambridge, Massachusetts in March 2021.
