Media theater troupe prepares Halloween in the park

Flyers are no doubt circling for the Halloween in the Park with the Hedgerow Theatre.

The event will feature the talents of local actors as they celebrate all things that go bump in the night, as well as the park’s 80-year anniversary.

Halloween in the Park begins with a round of spooky songs and a recitation of Edgar Allen Poe’s ‘The Raven’, as well as ‘The Witches’ Play.’ A cake will be offered, followed by a reenactment of two ghost stories from the park’s long and storied past: the ‘Newlywed Ghosts’, a haunted story from the 1700s, and ‘The Witches’ Ride’, a tale of toil and trouble from the 1800s. The event is considered a precursor to trick or treating, so no candy will be provided.

The event is being organized by the Hedgerow Theatre and the Friends of Glen Providence Park, a local community care organization. Sponsorship is also provided by the Delaware County Parks and Recreation Department, as well as Sterling Pig Beer.

The Halloween in the Park will be held from 5:30 pm to 6:45 pm this Saturday, October 31, at the historical stage at Glen Providence Park in Media, Pennsylvania, with a rain day scheduled for November 1. Admission is free to the public. Anyone interested should look on the website or the local advertisements in town.
